Minimum requirements

What every approved host must provide.

Safe learning environment

Tasks, equipment and conditions must be assessed and managed for foreseeable risk.

Named supervisor

A responsible person must guide agreed activities and confirm only what they observed.

Clear learning activities

The placement must provide meaningful activities linked to stated learning outcomes.

Fair treatment

Discrimination, harassment, exploitation and unapproved learner fees are prohibited.

Attendance and activity records

Hours and activities must be recorded accurately and remain open to audit.

Useful feedback

Supervisors should identify strengths, improvements and whether evidence is sufficient.

Safeguarding and escalation

Learners need a confidential way to report unsafe conditions or misconduct.

Privacy

Learner information and evidence must be accessed only for an authorised learning purpose.

Written arrangement

Host status requires an approved record defining responsibilities, scope and review dates.

Host lifecycle

Prospective → Under review → Approved → Active

A host may also be suspended or made inactive. No organisation is published as an active host until its record, learning scope and safeguards are approved.
